Since the 2005-2006 fiscal year, the Kings RDA has been involved with
the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), working with individuals interested in applying
for immigration status under the provincial Community Identified Program.
The NSNP Community Identified Stream is aimed at selecting individuals who have
strong, long established connections to a Nova Scotia community and wish to live
there permanently, and who are employable and can contribute to the labour market
and economy of that specific community.
This stream is community driven. The applicant must have a Letter of Identification
from an organization (Kings RDA) mandated by the
Nova Scotia Office of Immigration before submitting an application
to the NSNP for approval.
Are You Eligible?
You are eligible to apply to the NSNP Community Identified as a Principle Applicant
if you:
- Are not eligible for any other
NSNP Streams;
- Have legal status in the country where you are now living;
- If you are currently living in Canada, you must provide proof of
your current status as a visitor. You are not eligible to apply if you are
currently living in Canada and are a refugee claimant, failed refugee claimant or
an applicant under humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
- If you apply from outside Canada, you must provide proof that you
have legal status in your country of residence.
- Have a Letter of Identification from a Nova Scotia Office of Immigration
mandated organization (Kings RDA) indicating support for you application
based on your long established community connections and your potential labour market
and economic contributions; and
- Meet the minimum criteria for age, education, language ability, work
experience, adaptability and financial resources for the Community Identified stream.
Summary of Three Step Process
Step 1: Contact a Mandated Community Identified Organization
Review the application criteria to determine if you are qualified to apply for provincial
nomination under the Community Identified stream. If you wish to apply, you
must first obtain a Letter of Identification from a mandated organization (Kings
CED Agency) prior to submitting an application to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
Step 2: Apply to the NSNP Community Identified stream for Nomination
If you obtain a Letter of Identification, you then submit a complete application
to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration. Nomination under the NSNP is at
the sole discretion of the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
Step 3: Apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for Permanent Residence
If you are nominated by the Province
of Nova Scotia, you may then apply for a permanent resident visa to the
Government of Canada, through
Citizenship and Immigration Canada,
as a Nova Scotia provincial Nominee. You must meet statutory requirements
for medical, security and criminal admissibility. The Government of Canada
has the final authority to issue a permanent resident visa.
