Forestry

The mandate of the Forestry Committee is to educate residents and woodlot owners in Kings County about sound and sustainable forest management practices and act in an advisory capacity to the three levels of government.

On a yearly basis, the Kings RDA, in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources, the Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Authority, the Southwest Shore Development Authority and the Nova Scotia Forestry Alliance, jointly organize the yearly Western Nova Scotia Woodland Owner Conference.

As part of the Kings RDA's 2006-2007 Business Plan, the Agency will continue to help plan the annual conference.  The 2007 Western Nova Scotia Woodland Owner Conference will be held on March 3, 2007 in Kings County.  With the conference being held in our region, the Kings RDA will take more of a lead role in the conference planning.
